Obama Releases Gitmo Detainees into the Hands of Saudi Arabia

The foolishness of releasing more detainees after those who have already been released have “broken parole” if you will, is stunning, but Obama cares nothing for wisdom and only for sticking to campaign promises he made eight years ago.  Of those previously released, many have returned to the battle field or terror cells.

Despite years of smearing soldiers with accusations of torture and outlawing waterboarding, the Obama administration was not feeling apologetic enough so it started releasing the actual prisoners from Gitmo. These were battlefield captured prisoners of war, so imagine the administration’s surprise when many of them started showing up in the combat zone again, points out Truth and Action.

After the first of these incidents, what followed was a series of apologies for our treatment of the Jihadists arrested in Afghanistan and Iraq and there was a short backlash when conservatives said letting enemy combatants go was a bad idea. The detractors were told they were un-American and these were new days where the terrorists will be nice and leave us alone.

Saudi Arabia is the last place a Muslim detainee should be sent, yet the Pentagon thanked the government of Saudi for being “humanitarian”.

All of the men whose release was announced Saturday are Yemeni but could not be sent back to their homeland because U.S. officials fear that the instability there would enable them to resume the militant activities that landed them at Guantanamo in the first place. They are expected to take part in a Saudi rehabilitation program for an undisclosed length of time.

The rehab program of Saudi fame is infamous in its failure rate.  Truth and Action disclosed the truth about a Saudi national named Ibrahim al-Rubaysh:

In late 2006 the Bush administration repatriated him back home under a Saudi Arabian “rehabilitation” program that supposedly reformed Guantanamo Bay jihadists but instead has served as a training camp for future terrorists. In fact, in 2008 counterterrorism officials confirmed that many of the terrorists who return to “the fight” after being released from U.S. custody actually graduated from the laughable Saudi rehab program, which started under Bush and continued under Obama.

It turns out that al-Rubaysh is the poster child for the Saudi rehab’s failures. He’s a dangerous Al Qaeda operative based in Yemen and now, years after freeing him, the United States wants him captured. This month the State Department coined the “senior leader” of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) aSpecially Designated Global Terrorist. “He serves as a senior advisor for AQAP operational planning and is involved in the planning of attacks,” a State Department announcement says. “He has served as a senior AQAP sharia official since 2013, and as a senior AQAP sharia official, al-Rubaysh provides the justification for attacks conducted by AQAP.  In addition, he has made public statements, including one in August 2014 where he called on Muslims to wage war against the United States.”

Yet, in spite of this Obama pushes his inept plan to close Gitmo.  Congress has prohibited these prisoners from entering the U.S. for any reason and there is a push to put new restrictions in place for releases and transfers in the future.

The nine Yemenis include Tariq Ba Odah, a frequent hunger striker whose weight dropped to a dangerously low 74 pounds (34 kilograms) at one point as the military fed him with liquid nutrients to prevent him from starving to death. His lawyers at the Center for Constitutional Rights had sought a court order to force the U.S. to free him earlier due to his health.

“Mr. Ba Odah’s transfer today ends one of the most appalling chapters in Guantanamo’s sordid history,” said Omar Farah, an attorney for the prisoner. “Now that Mr. Ba Odah is finally free, we are hopeful that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will provide him the sophisticated medical care he desperately needs.”

The lies and propaganda machine is well oiled by the slick rhetoric of Omar Farah, who praises Saudi for sophisticated care, when the fact is, America kept the man alive by feeding him nutrient rich liquids, ignoring the fact that a hunger strike is the choice of the individual.

Yet the lessons of the past and present elude this president who cannot say Islamic terrorist and certainly has no imagination for what an angry detainee might do to get back at the nation who kept him imprisoned.

Facts reported by Truth and Action like: “Ibrahim Al Qosi, a former Guantánamo detainee, has re-joined Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), recommitting to waging jihad against the West following his release from the detention facility,” mean nothing to the Obama administration.

“We placed America in the top of our list same as America placed us in the top of the list,” Qosi says in the video produced by the Al Qaeda Yemen branch, promising to continue his fight against the United States. “The war is not over yet,” he adds.”

These most resent releases are of men who are called “low-level” risks, yet as has been proven by other thus labeled detainees, returning to the battle is how “low-level” they actually are.

“Detainee was arrested on suspicion of possessing weapons including Stinger missiles and uranium, which detainee’s recovered documents indicate was intended for use in a nuclear device,” read Zahir’s official Guantanamo file, which was leaked by the Wikileaks hacker group.

It seems to defy logic that a man with such a reputation would would have all of the terrorism accusations discarded “considered a low-level operative at best”.

But, as we all know, Obama has a propensity for releasing terrorists that afterwards vow to continue attacking us, such as when he released 30 jihadists right back into the arms of ISIS, or when he broke the law when he exchanged five Guantanamo Bay detainees for Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl earlier this year, describes Truth and Action.

Fortunately there are only 203 days left for America to suffer at the reckless hands of Obama, but it may be too late to keep these detainees from rejoining a terror group.
