Assistant chief of police, Anita Najiy, created a bone of contention between the Miami Police Department and the Fraternal Order of Police President, Javier Ortiz, after she refused to hold her hand over her heart for the Pledge of Allegiance during a recent promotional ceremony.
Ortiz became livid in seeing Najiy refuse to honor the Pledge, stating that she failed to exhibit courtesy and etiquette that “must be exercised when wearing a law enforcement uniform.”
“If you’re not pledging allegiance to the United States, my question is what country are you pledging allegiance to?” Ortiz asks. “Anyone who isn’t offended by that is not American, because when you become a U.S. citizen, you pledge allegiance to the US.”
Ortiz also states that Najiy’s disrepect comes from her Muslim belief, but that normal “protections” or exemptions generally given in the name of religious freedom and speech doesn´t apply to those in police uniform because “you’re supposed to be neutral.”
MOVE TO PAGE 2:

Nope, I think anyone in this country should respect this country’s rules and laws for century’s the flag has flown an the pledgiance has been said in school then a few people come along and want to change things! If you don’t want to do it then don’t, sit quietly be quite an respectful while others do what has been done for centuries! I also think anyone that is in this country should serve this country! 3 yrs in the armed services you want the privlidges this country offers but you ( an when I say you I mean everyone in this country) don’t want to do nothing to earn them! Everyone wants a free hand out! I’m a 6 generations at least of armed service members we fought for this country we respect this country we take nothing for granted an we do not take no free hand outs my parents taught me that! Their parents taught them an theirs them! An I taught my children to no free hand outs outs! My children served, I served, an I hope my grand children serve! I don’t agree with this disrespect of the flag an the disrespect of the pledge of aledgiance it’s not a religion thing it’s a country thing an if you don’t like this country then leave there’s other countries! That’s what I’m saying it’s not about religion it’s about country! An this is a awesome country!
Okay Don then why are they telling all of us that we need to turn to their beliefs ???i told you something but you didn’t read it …if your going to be in the government, president, police officer,or military you take a oath to serve America and protect America and the flag and the people and do right to them ???am i correct or not ??you have to pledge your allegiance to the flag and America and God right ???
They turn there backs on all of that to America ..then if your going to turn your back to America then leave America ..am i right ???
“Respect the countries rules and laws”….well clearly this woman has done that since she has been in charge of enforcing those laws.
She stood at attention and faced the flag so how exactly did she disrespect the flag?
This is an awesome country because we are free to disagree. If you say that the pledge is not a religion thing….then please remove “under god” from the pledge….then this discussion isn’t even necessary.
Why is it ok for the christians to change the tradition and ADD “under god” to the pledge…but when people later come along and object to then they are the troublemakers. That is quite the hypocritical double standard don’t you think?
Oh and for the record…..”if you don’t like this country leave”…..you do realize those aren’t the only two options right. A third option might be “try to make it better”….”try to make everyone feel equal”.
Your same “if you don’t like this country then leave” could have been made when people though women should have the right to vote….”our tradition is women are second cl$#%&!@* citizens and should not have the right to vote….if you don’t like the country then leave.”
Or when people owned slaves “it is our tradition that it is ok to OWN human beings…if you don’t like this country then leave”.
Thankfully people didn’t take that advice….the stayed..and CHANGE the traditions for the better…and now YOU can vote. How about that 🙂
Fire him
Our tradition just told me exactly what kind of person you are an that you are exactly the person who wants to change this country. An that brings me to my question why bother just go to the country that all ready caters to exactly the way you want things!
An by the way the United States will never allow you to have things the Muslim way! It violates to many human rights! Women, children, race, ect!
Do tell…what kind of person am I, and what exactly do you think I want to change this country to?
BTW…I am honestly disappointed that you made zero effort to reply to any of the points I raised.
Muslim,an sharia law it sounds like to me! By your last comments about women
