Boycott Effort: Kellogg’s Drops Ads on Breitbart, Claims It Does Not Reflect “Company Values”

It is more than just annoying when companies turn from their primary purpose of generating wealth by serving their markets, and decide it would be a lot more fun to just take political pot-shots, typically at conservatives.  Since the leadership teams at these companies apparently find functioning as leftist political action committees to be more important than making money, it’s time for the targets of their attacks to reduce those profits.

The example at hand involves Kellogg’s and their pulling of advertising from Breitbart News.

Kellogg Co. announced on Tuesday its decision to pull ads from conservative media giant Breitbart.com because its 45,000,000 monthly conservative readers are not “aligned with our values as a company.” In response, Breitbart News, one of the world’s top news publishers, has launched a #DumpKelloggs petition and called for a boycott of the ubiquitous food manufacturer.

The nice thing about boycotting Kellogg’s is that the company makes so many different products, that virtually everyone who wishes to participate should be able find at least a product or two to stop buying.

The decision by Kellogg’s, which makes Pringles, Eggo waffles, as well as Special K and Frosted Flakes cereals, among others, will make virtually no revenue impact on Breitbart.com. It does, however, represent an escalation in the war by leftist companies like Target and Allstate against conservative customers whose values propelled Donald Trump into the White House.

“We regularly work with our media-buying partners to ensure our ads do not appear on sites that aren’t aligned with our values as a company,” said Kellogg’s flak Kris Charles. “We recently reviewed the list of sites where our ads can be placed and decided to discontinue advertising on Breitbart.com. We are working to remove ads from that site.”

Gee, and here all along we thought the really important thing for Kellogg’s was to make food that tastes good.  Perhaps that has taken a back seat to pushing a left-wing agenda.

In response, Breitbart launched its #DumpKelloggs petition to encourage its vast readership and the followers of its #1 in the world political Facebook and Twitter pages to ban bigotry from the breakfast table by boycotting Kellogg’s products.

“Kellogg’s has shown its contempt for Breitbart’s 45 million readers and for the main street American values that they hold dear,” said Breitbart President and CEO, Larry Solov. “Pulling its advertising from Breitbart News is a decidedly cynical and un-American act. The only sensible response is to join together and boycott Kellogg’s products in protest.”

Meanwhile, back at Kellogg’s, this self-appointed intercessor for equality and all that is right has some of it’s own problems it seems.  A bit of hypocrisy here, Kellogg’s?

A number of employees of the cereal giant’s Franklin, Massachusetts, distribution center, which handles shipping of its Kellogg’s Keebler cookie products, have filed formal complaints and some lawsuits over alleged racial and sexual abuse by managers, according to a report by a local Rhode Island NBC affiliate.

Employees charge that they were constantly the subject of racial epithets, comments on their sexuality, and images of black faces, baboons, and other animals hung around the warehouse. They were also frequently threatened with firing and in some cases even physical abuse, and all the while, employees say, management in Kellogg’s main headquarters in Michigan was aware of the whole situation but did nothing to stop it.

According to complaints made by up to a dozen employees, “their workplace is riddled with bullying, racial slurs and unfair work practices,” Rhode Island NBC Affiliate Channel 10 reported.

One employee, Sylvester Cyler, an African American employee of ten years, told reporters that he has been called the N-word and a “monkey,” and despite filing complaints starting in 2013, nothing has been done to stop the harassment.

What do you know?  This company that claims Breitbart readers don’t reflect the company’s values, allows racist harassment to go on at its facilities.   So, tell us what your company’s values are again, Kellogg’s?

Now Breitbart has discovered that Kellogg’s has ties to left-wing billionaire George Soros, who also funds Black Lives Matter and just about every other radical left wing movement you can think of:

The institutional left’s funding behemoth W.K. Kellogg Foundation has partnered with and given major donations to George Soros’s Open Society Institute and the Tides Center as part of its massive push to promote a far-left agenda.
The W.K. Kellogg Foundation is the nonprofit arm of cereal and sweets giant Kellogg’s, based in Battle Creek, Michigan. The Kellogg Company is chiefly known for its breakfast brands, including Special K™ cereal, Eggo® waffles, and Pop-Tarts®; but its namesake nonprofit W.K. Kellogg Foundation is one of the largest institutional funders in world and is the seventh largest philanthropic foundation in the United States.

The Kellogg’s website explains the history of the Foundation:

As the United States sunk into the Depression, W.K. Kellogg declared, “I’ll invest in people.” He split shifts and hired new employees to work them. He also founded the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, whose mission — to help children realize their potential — complements that of the Kellogg Company to this day.

In recent years, however, the focus of the Foundation has drifted away from just helping children toward promoting left-wing political issues.

Examples of such funding include a direct grant to George Soros’s Open Society Institute, which received $200,000 from the Foundation to “eliminate racial inequities in the juvenile justice system and promote racial healing through community-based conferences, policy changes, and communication strategies.”

Two other far-left groups, the Tides Center and Tides Foundation, both based in San Francisco, are also top recipients of funds and support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. A search of the grants given by the Foundation for “Tides” yields over 120 results.

For those who are fed-up and want to get involved, there are a couple of action steps you can take.
