Walmart has been installing facial recognition cameras at eye level in the entrances of their new store fronts for some time now. These cameras not only have the ability to cross reference you with social media networks to put a name with the face, but utilzes software that has the ability to ascertain a great many things about the environment. How much exactly is unknown, but in the video on the next page you can see that it not only tracks faces, but can categorize objects and motion.

Really?? Your concerned with Walmart??? You have the very same thin on this place…..its here on Facebook….and we allowed Facebook to do the Goverments work….Think about it..
OOH big bad Walmart say dip stick I’m sure it is facial rec cameras so when a known shop lifter enters the store security is alerted, or someone who has been banned from the store. Apparently this tech has got cheap enough for some one other than casinos to use.
I haven’t shopped there for about three years. No reason to go back.
Eye level? The average Wal-Mart shopper is about 4′-9″?
Good reason not to shop Walmart. Online looks better all the time.
Hey I’ve seen one of these before but thought it was a sensor for the door or something. There are cameras everywhere. Big deal.
I have personally installed cameras in 43 Walmart store across Texas and can verify that while the cameras listed in this article do have that capability and along with most other camera manufactures, Walmart is way too cheap in their security equipment to implement those features into the software and recording devices they use. The use of the cameras mounted at eye level is to catch shoplifters! They use run of the mill standard DVR’s with no special software and only keep video for 30 days!!
Fine with me. If you don’t like it, don’t go to WalMart. Problem solved.
Stop and think about the bank video you watched of the blur that robbed them, now are you really worried? engage brain before you React.
