Treasonous Obamatrade Deal Released

The administration is attempting to circumvent Congress by saying that the TPP is a trade agreement rather than a treaty.  Incredibly, one section of the TPP proposes a supranational court that can override the sovereign control and laws of member nations, which clearly goes well beyond being a trade or commerce activity.

WikiLeaks releases today the “Investment Chapter” from the secret negotiations of the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) agreement. The document adds to the previous WikiLeaks publications of the chapters for Intellectual Property Rights (November 2013) and the Environment (January 2014).

The TPP Investment Chapter, published today, is dated 20 January 2015. The document is classified and supposed to be kept secret for four years after the entry into force of the TPP agreement or, if no agreement is reached, for four years from the close of the negotiations.

Julian Assange, WikiLeaks editor said: “The TPP has developed in secret an unaccountable supranational court for multinationals to sue states. This system is a challenge to parliamentary and judicial sovereignty. Similar tribunals have already been shown to chill the adoption of sane environmental protection, public health and public transport policies.”

Not only are such proposals being made outside of Congressional oversight, the Obama administration is seeking fast-track authority that would allow circumvention of Congressional approval of all treaties. The attempt to ignore this Constitutionally mandated responsibility of Congress even has some of Obama’s own party members  pushing back against this overreach of presidential authority.

The passage failed after a leading pro-trade Democrat said he would oppose the bill: Ron Wyden, the top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, said he would vote no and his loss was a major blow to hopes of attracting a sufficient number Democrats to get 60 “yes” votes in the chamber.

According to Reuters, the Senate vote was one of a series of obstacles to be overcome that hinged on the support of a handful of Democrats. The White House has launched a campaign blitz directed at them in support of granting the president authority to speed trade deals through Congress.

Fast-track legislation gives lawmakers the right to set negotiating objectives but restricts them to a yes-or-no vote on trade deals such as the TPP, a potential legacy-defining achievement for Obama.

It is clear that the TPP is unmanageable and does not have the input and oversight of government leaders whose job it is to develop and approve treaties with other nations.  Whether the Obama administration will be successful in getting this treasonous document put into place and the American people to acquiesce remains to be seen.

“They’re not even asserting that it will create jobs in America, raise wages in America or reduce our trade deficit because these agreements in the past have been bad for all three,” Sessions told Breitbart News’ Stephen K. Bannon.

Bannon asked Sessions about a commission that is formed through the TPP that could potentially have an effect of global governance.

“I think for President Obama, I do believe the driving force behind this is a belief that this is some sort of a one unified governmental structure. It creates judicial bodies. The language of it confirms what I’ve been saying,” Sessions said, affirming the creation of an oversee commission that will have control over the parties and interpretation of this agreement.

On the commission’s control and oversight, Sessions said, “It’s really breathtaking and it’s an erosion of sovereignty.” He added, “particularly an erosion of congressional power.”

“The president can participate in some of these things and advance what he’d like to see, but it takes the people out through their elected congressional representatives,” he explained.
