“I can’t imagine any use for bayonets in an urban setting,” stated Sen. Rand Paul to Senate Homeland Security Committee at a hearing last year.
“I can’t answer what a local police force would use a bayonet for,” Alan Estevez said.

Rand Paul is completely correct, of course, that there is no need for bayonets in local law enforcement. Bayonets are for hand-to-hand combat in battle and the only purpose is to kill.

If this does not scare the hell out of you it should. Can you imagine a bunch of idiots crashing your front door and come in with a 14″ knife mounted on a assault rifle. In the army this was used as a last defense. when they got too close to shoot you tried to run them through with a bayonet. I agree with Rand Paul. Why do police need bayonets for? If you see them in your city you better force the mayor and town council to fire the police chief. This can only lead to abuse of power.

Rand is right of course but, this is not something to have studies and reasonable conversations about. This is something to do something about and stop it now before our police force is completely armed for war.
