Rand Paul is completely correct, of course, that there is no need for bayonets in local law enforcement. Bayonets are for hand-to-hand combat in battle and the only purpose is to kill.

Rand Paul at first seemed like a sensible guy. But like all political hacks, the more they wag their jaw, the more they reveal about themselves. Paul would make a very dangerous president.

I believe the way the public is acting in some of these cities, bayonets are needed at times. It is just insane the actions of some.

The spirit of the bayonet is to kill. I don’t see the police needing them. It’s not what the police need. Bayonet training is a close combat technique that does not lend it’s self to police work. They are not infantry, they are police. I do think they should be armed to confront criminals with the firepower needed to finish a job.
