Barack Obama attended a mosque for the first time as President this week, in a public attempt to ease what he perceives as American hostility to the religion.
President Obama on Wednesday joked about persistent, false rumors that he secretly practices Islam during his first-ever visit to a U.S. mosque.
In a speech at the Islamic Center of Baltimore, the president said the nation has a long history of defending the rights of Muslims to practice their religion, dating back to the days of the founding fathers.
“Thomas Jefferson’s opponents tried to stir things up by suggesting he was a Muslim,” he said. “It’s true, I’m in good company.”
Lets get this out of the way now. Barack Obama, you are no Thomas Jefferson.
If anything, the persistent rumor that he is a Muslim stems not from a ‘vast right-wing conspiracy’ to taint the president’s image, but his never-ending efforts to not only cast Islam and even terrorists in the best possible light and Christianity in the worst, but his targeting of Christians and Christianity in and out of the military.
Oh yea, and his continued imporation of hundreds of thousands of Muslims.
