Assistant chief of police, Anita Najiy, created a bone of contention between the Miami Police Department and the Fraternal Order of Police President, Javier Ortiz, after she refused to hold her hand over her heart for the Pledge of Allegiance during a recent promotional ceremony.
Ortiz became livid in seeing Najiy refuse to honor the Pledge, stating that she failed to exhibit courtesy and etiquette that “must be exercised when wearing a law enforcement uniform.”
“If you’re not pledging allegiance to the United States, my question is what country are you pledging allegiance to?” Ortiz asks. “Anyone who isn’t offended by that is not American, because when you become a U.S. citizen, you pledge allegiance to the US.”
Ortiz also states that Najiy’s disrepect comes from her Muslim belief, but that normal “protections” or exemptions generally given in the name of religious freedom and speech doesn´t apply to those in police uniform because “you’re supposed to be neutral.”

1) She is an ‘$#%&!@*istant’ chief of police, so she was ‘NOT’ elected, she was appointed.
2) She is a member of the ‘FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE’, and as such, is
subject to their code of ethics and decorum.
3) Mr. Ortiz was as the President of the Fraternal Order of Police, and as
the leader of that organization was ‘within’ his rights as the leader of
that organization to ask the ‘hard questions’ of just whom does ‘she’ answer
to within ‘HER’ duties.
4) Mr. “Know-it-all”, I lived in Florida for 12 years during the time of
her tenure within the Miami Police Department, and witnessed the riots that
left a good part of Miami in flames, when the ‘black folks’ decided to light
it up, because ‘SOME’ of the former jobs of ‘Blacks’ were being taken by
newly arrived Cubans. Why??? Because Florida as is ‘MOST’ states below the Mason Dixon line is a ‘RIGHT TO WORK STATE’. So, do the math and you will discover, that she hired in either during or shortly after the above stated
time period.
5) You failed to dig around and find out, just when she may have converted
to Islam?? If she converted ‘after’ she was on the force, the question is
MORE THAN A LITTLE VALID’, as previously quoted by Mr. Ortiz, “If you’re not pledging allegiance to the United States, my question is what country are
you pledging allegiance to?” Ortiz asks. “Anyone who isn’t offended by that is not American, because when you become a U.S. Citizen, you pledge
allegiance to the US.”
Especially ‘mindful’ to Mr. Ortiz, because he is a Cuban or descendant of immigrants from a Communist country.
