Amazingly, the Seattle City Council unanimously passed a special tax and Mayor Ed Murray signaled his support for the measure.
Fox News reports the new “violence” law will impose a $25 tax on guns and a 5-cent tax on bullets sold within the city limits.
Lawmakers proudly touted the regulation a “gun violence tax” because income generated would allegedly be used for prevention and research programs to reduce gun violence in Seattle. Read: a new slush fund to promote their liberal agenda.

That’s called an “ignorance tax”
It’s amazing how people can elect such morons to public office. The tax is going to generate half a million dollars a year? How stupid can they be? It’s going to reduce sales tax revenue, because no one will buy guns or ammo in Seattle! I’ll bet there are parties going on right now in all the gun shops in surrounding cities!
If Houston levied such a tax, it would serve only to boost gun and ammo sales in Katy, Pasadena, Conroe, Friendswood, League City, Baytown, Deer Park, Pearland, Rosenberg. Gun shops in some of those “cities” are closer to me than many Houston gun shops. Not to mention the cities surrounded by Houston: Bellaire, South Houston, West University, Stafford. Houston gun shops plus Walmart, Academy, Gander Mountain, B$#%&!@* Pro Shops, and others would suffer. Ammo sales at shooting ranges would drop too. Houston would suffer a net loss of revenue and no change in the rate of guns being purchased by Houstonians. Unless the citizens of Seattle are as dumb as their elected officials, that’s what will happen there.
Have they learned nothing since the minimum wage fiasco?
