Keeping German Women Safe, One Segregated Rail-car at a Time

Ever since the New Year’s Eve sexual assaults and rapes in Cologne, Germany, women have not felt safe to walk the streets they once called home.  In light of the safety issues for women and children, central German Regiobahn railway line has announced it will have an all women and children train car to facilitate safe travel, free from sexual assault.

As reported earlier in the year by Truth and Action: This is the New Year for Germany, the new face of what open boarders mean to the citizens of this nation.  Thus far, in this one night, the police have identified 80 victims on a night that joy and new beginnings are celebrated.  For these victims, their new beginning, their New Year will be spent identifying their attackers and getting medical and emotional support for the crimes committed against them. The New Year’s attacks occurred near the train station of Cologne.  Safety for all travelers, but especially women who are viewed as “property” by many in the Muslim culture, is perhaps the catalyst for the new rail car.

To ensure maximum peace for those choosing to travel in that compartment not only would it be sandwiched between the service’s two quiet coaches, but it would also be next to the on-board office of the “customer service representative. Traditionally known as a train guard or ticket inspector, the company said “the local proximity to the customer service representative is chosen deliberately”.

Yet despite the recent mass sex-attacks in Germany, and the official advice to young women that the best thing to do is to keep groping migrant men “at arms length” to prevent rape, the railway denies the segregated trains has anything to do with sexual harassment.

British Labour Party leader, Jeremy Corbyn, was asked about the idea of women only train compartments which have been suggested in London, due to harassment.  He responded:

“It is unacceptable that many women and girls adapt their daily lives in order to avoid being harassed on the street, public transport, and in other public places from the park to the supermarket.

“This could include taking longer routes to work, having self-imposed curfews or avoiding certain means of transport”.

The railroad is helping ensure the safety of women and children and citizens are also ensuring their own safety by purchasing guns according to Truth and Action.

The police have lost the public trust, as their response to the assaults, committed by marauding gangs of “foreign men”, was paltry.  Now citizens feel they must arm themselves in order to feel safe in public places.

Estimates of at least eight to ten application requests are being presented to the Düsseldorf police, spokesperson Andre Hartwich stated. At this pace, the 1500 requests for 2015, will be more than doubled, though Hartwich believes the interest will decrease.

When crime happens and the police to nothing, whether by government compulsion or negligence, the people will rise up to protect themselves, it is human nature to protect one’s own life.
