Former US Attorney: DOJ Now Has Names of Those Leaking Classified Documents

The elections of 2016 were very unkind to the Democrats. Hillary suffered a humiliating defeat. Obama’s pitiful legacy bit the dust. And Pelosi and Schumer remained minority leaders. And they were defeated not by some phony conservative such as John McCain who would work well with the Democrats, but by Donald Trump, a man who has a take “no prisoners attitude” when it comes to opponents. There should be no surprise at the level of accusations being thrown at the president and his team.

We can be sure that Mr. Obama left plenty of “land mines” during his last two months in office as an effort to disrupt the Trump administration. Such is the pettiness of a sore loser such as Mr. Obama. Since he achieved nothing of consequence during his eight years in office, he apparently wishes to inflict that destiny on his successor.

But has anyone crossed the line in this effort by committing criminal acts? That is where President Trump needs to initiate aggressive investigations.

CIA officials know who has been leaking classified information to The New York Times and The Washington Post, and the officials have passed that information on to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, according to a former U.S. attorney for President Ronald Reagan.

If true, it’s no wonder why there are attacks from the left on Attorney General Sessions. People (other than apparently Hillary Clinton) go to jail for revealing classified documents. This is serious stuff. And there should be little doubt that Mr. Sessions intends to bring the hammer of justice down on some people who should now be very nervous.

Joseph diGenova, the former U. S. attorney for the District of Columbia under Reagan, told LifeZette that in private conversations with CIA officials they confirmed they have the names of alleged leakers and have given the names to the U.S. Department of Justice.

This is huge. And it only gets bigger.

DiGenova’s claim comes after yet another case of leaked classified information to The Washington Post made headlines late Wednesday night.

The New York Times revealed in a report Wednesday that President Obama’s staffers left bread crumbs for anyone looking to undermine the Trump administration throughout the federal government. The revelation by The Times indicates how a steady drip of embarrassing leaks has tormented the new administration of President Donald Trump.

So what we have is a criminal conspiracy. Using your official position in the federal government to conspire with others to use classified information obtained through illegal leaks to undermine a president breaks a whole bunch of laws with very nasty consequences.

Some of the information reportedly planted by Obama officials had to do with alleged ties between President Trump’s “associates” — The Times does not define that term — and Russian officials.

Apparently, the Obama administration wanted to leave plenty of ammunition for leakers to keep hot the theme that Trump and his allies are connected to Moscow.

This might be a good time to looking up the meaning of the term “sedition.”

After the disclosure that Sessions had talked to the Russian ambassador twice, Democrats and some Republicans called on Sessions to recuse himself in investigations of Russian connections to the Trump campaign.

But diGenova said the bigger story is the ongoing war of leaks between entrenched federal employees, loyal to Obama, and the new Trump White House.

“[This] confirms former Obama administration officials are in fact disclosing and discussing classified information with the press,” said diGenova. [Emphasis added.]

The question now is whether the Republicans have the backbone to take the battle directly to the Mr. Obama and the Democratic leadership. Indicting those who leaked classified documents would be a great start. Tracing the trail of criminal actions back to Mr. Obama would be even better.

And Mr. Trump needs to track down those Obama loyalists still in the government employ and fire them all, as well as seeking indictment of those who are part of these illegal leaks.

The Republicans have as a leader a man who is not afraid of a battle. This would be an excellent time for the rest of his party to discover their own backbones or to grow one fast.
