Feds To Cut Power at Occupied Oregon Refuge, Militia Braces For FBI Raid

A little background:

Armed protesters have gathered in Oregon to speak out against the government's abusive power being waged against two ranch families, and the government is now asking them to stand down.

The armed protesters who triggered a standoff when they stormed a wildlife refuge in Oregon listed their demands at a news conference Monday, while giving their group a name: Citizens for Constitutional Freedom.

Ammon Bundy, a son of Cliven Bundy, who was involved in a standoff of his own against the federal government in 2014, spoke on behalf of the protesters. He said they asked Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward and federal agencies to put an end to what he called “abuses” against local ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammond.

The Hammonds were convicted of arson three years ago for fires that burned on federal land in 2001 and 2006. Though they served their original sentences for the conviction — Dwight serving three months, Steven serving one year — an appellate judge ruled in October that the terms were too short under federal minimum sentencing laws.

The Hammonds were ordered back to prison for four years each. They arrived at the Terminal Island Federal Correctional Institution Monday afternoon…

FBI officials tried to calm the anger by calling for a “peaceful resolution” to the standoff. Still, the bureau did not give any specifics about its response in a statement Sunday, citing “safety considerations for both those inside the refuge as well as the law enforcement officers involved.”

While the protest rages against these criminally unfair practices against the Hammonds, the government's call for a peaceful resolution flies in the face of the warlike tactics they've so far used against the Hammonds. See an article about those tactics here.

Is a raid imminent?

According to Infowars reporter Joe Biggs, who is currently on the ground at the occupation’s epicenter, several sources speaking with Ammon Bundy have stated that the FBI are preparing to descend on the remote location.
“Ammon Bundy says that they do have credible intel from three different sources that they believe that the FBI will be coming down on them,” Biggs said.

A federal source speaking with the Guardian early Tuesday said that the government’s first plan of action would be an attempt to flush out the group by shutting off the building’s power, forcing protesters to face eastern Oregon’s freezing temperatures.

The FBI is set up at a private airport in Burns, Oregon:

This intel is given credence with the report that the power to the refugee will soon be cut:

Federal authorities are planning to cut off the power of the wildlife refuge in Oregon that has been taken over by militia, exposing the armed occupiers to sub-zero temperatures in an effort to flush them out.

Armed militants will begin their third day at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, a remote federal outpost in eastern Oregon, on Tuesday, and have vowed to remain for months in protest over the treatment of two local cattle ranchers.

A federal government official told the Guardian that authorities were planning on Monday to cut the power at the refuge.

“It’s in the middle of nowhere,” said the official, who is based in Washington, DC, and has knowledge of the planned response to the militia. “And it’s flat-ass cold up there.”

The official, who asked not to be named, said they were not privy to the FBI’s plan of action. However, they said the US Fish and Wildlife Service, which is leading the crisis management reaction to the occupation in liaison with the FBI, planned to cut the power to the building where the militiamen are spending their nights.

Any such move would mark a significant escalation in the crisis. The local sheriff, FBI and other law enforcement officials have so far held back from confronting the militia, who are heavily armed and have lookouts on a watchtower.

The militia have said they do not want a violent confrontation but made clear they are armed and prepared for the arrival of law enforcement officials. However, it appears that federal authorities were planning to use the power cut, and an attempt to starve the militia of supplies, in order to force them out.

“After they shut off the power, they’ll kill the phone service,” the government official added. “Then they’ll block all the roads so that all those guys have a long, lonely winter to think about what they’ve done.”
