Will the NFL’s $100M Bribe Pay Off or Will the Protests Continue?

At first, it was just a note referred to in the statistics.  “This player was scratched on the start-up for a mild concussive injury,” etc.  Then, as time went on, some sociology professor or social worker somewhere noted that there hadn’t been an uptick recently in victimhood status.  They searched around and noticed, “Hey, there are a ton of concussion injuries in football!”  And like magic, a controversy was born.

NPR went crazy will whole segments on how “little Johnny thought that he’d be the neighborhood hero by being a quarterback on the local midget football team” (of course they wouldn’t use “midget” to describe football, but you get the picture).  Dramatic music is queued:  “But then one day, his parents got the call from the coach.  ‘Your son has…a concussion!'”  Gasp!  Dramatic music increases.

And so the beat went on for months, then years.  It still continues, just to a subdued degree because of the “taking of the knee” story, but nevertheless, if this protest stuff ever goes away, it will resurface bigger than ever.  After the concussion story stopped gaining traction (and it did, too, as thousands of children were pulled by their parents from the sport.  Then there were the schools themselves pulling funding for the entire football programs!

As the Left applauded a job well done toward the destruction of an American success story, they moved on to the next way to exploit its weaknesses.  That was the denigrating name controversy.  Remember that?
