Back In June, Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) was trying to get an amendment added to a Department of Defense Authorization bill to change the Pentagon’s position on arming our soldiers on bases and in recruiting centers here on American soil.
This move could have helped the Chattanooga shooting turn out with a much different outcome.
But, Heller’s effort had an adversary that made sure that the amendment was defeated: Sen. John McCain.

I’ll try again, computer glitch. In my 10 years in Arizona I can not remember one vote where McCain voted to aid people, he always sided with the corporations and their interests. He has told Arizonans one thing and then voted the opposite in Washington. Palin was really, really bad judgment. I have read that while a Vietnam prisoner, he “talked”? ……hero? Our Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans are returning to find no jobs and little help……and committing suicide at an alarming rate. Maybe more money should be spent on them and less on the defense budget. Oh, he is already running campaign ads on Arizona TV.
I understand posse comitatus. and he can justify his vote…Just too many crazies and too guns available.
Well Clyde he is a Republican after all. In comparison to other Republicans he is a living saint. He is not a chicken hawk. Proposed immigration reform . He opposed torture. He voted for laws reducing the effect of lobbyists before United Citizens. It’s like a moderate Iranian you know takes hostages but doesn’t eat them. Did he break after 5 years of torture? The answer is no. The Palin gambit was a monumental error.

On the suicide thing. I just had a client commit suicide. He had PTSD and he had extensive treatment for six years. He was 36 had a wife and two kids. He told me that he was in so much pain that he could not bear it. He couldn’t sleep because of nightmares. We tried everything he would allow. He came by and said good bye and went home and did it. These suicides of our vets are beyond our understanding. That’s why l favor diplomacy over war. We need to count the costs
McCain knows the costs. He paid his dues. I don’t agree with him most of the time but I respect him as a man. He’s not a racist. Not everybody can be a progressive.
Another fossil that needs to go. War zero is more like it.
