Walmart has been installing facial recognition cameras at eye level in the entrances of their new store fronts for some time now. These cameras not only have the ability to cross reference you with social media networks to put a name with the face, but utilzes software that has the ability to ascertain a great many things about the environment. How much exactly is unknown, but in the video on the next page you can see that it not only tracks faces, but can categorize objects and motion.

it does facial reconition. so if you have a warrent you now know why so many people with warrents get arrested at walmart.

That sounds like the real M Coy indeed. But let’s get down to the facts. For years many stores have cameras mounted on the ceiling. In recent years many customers have started to wear hoodies. The ceiling cameras cannot get the face. Now if you think Walmart is checking every customer that comes in to get that customers background, guess again. The facial recognition part is being used to identify any customer that has been arrested or suspected as being a shoplifter. They take an original picture to work against, if they have been caught recently. Theft from retail establishments has truly got out of hand in recent years. If the stores can reduce this, chances are the prices will reflect this.
Worked for automatic door company for years, they are recording your movements into and out of every store. So what, quit stealing
Good for Walmart…. If your not a thief and dont have a warrant out for you, why would you care?? Everything you buy is recorded at the register sooo, no big deal.. Let them flim my handsom mug.. 🙂

I’m pretty sure some of the people making comments didn’t read beyond the headline. I guess that’s no surprise, is it?!
some people watch way too much tv. and believe everything the see on tv or on facebook.. don’t you think if they had cameras that could tell who you were all the police departments would have them so they would be able to tell who did what. Walmart has security cameras but they do not tell who you are. in fact almost everywhere you go now has some kind of camera. but they “DO NOT” tell who you are……duh….
Poster is just another Wal Mart hater / basher. Who cares if these really are what the poste says they are? How about this …. if you don’t like Wal Mart then do not shop nor work there …. PROBLEM SOLVED.
