Keith Lamont Scott was shot and killed by a Charlotte, N.C. police officer this week, sparking outrage across the city — and confusion about what happened in the moments leading up to the shooting. Was he holding a gun or wasn’t he?
The footage begins with Scott’s wife Rakeyia telling police officers he doesn’t have a gun, thought multiple officers can be heard shouting, “Drop the gun! Drop the gun!”
The video also does not clarify whether Scott had a gun in his possession at the time of his death or what initially caused the incident.
The Charlotte NAACP president says that it “doesn’t really matter” if Scott was armed during the altercation, but the lawyers are likely to disagree, as should you.
