Russia is and was famous for rewriting and rearranging history, with leaders changing the names of cities such as swapping Leningrad for St. Petersburg, and removing former government leaders who lost favor from historical photos. History is always a bit messy as trends change and what was once acceptable becomes unacceptable over time. It is arrogant and idiotic, however, to judge past events by current standards, because history is all about context. Inevitably, those seeking to condemn past actions or standards have an agenda, and they want to overlay guilt by association on those who would suggest that history simply is and should be respected and left to stand on its own, within its own contextual framework.
This is clearly being shown in the nonsensical demand by race baiters and liberal firebrands that the confederate flag be excised from history and removed from public exhibit in any shape or form. The narrow minded and bigoted protesters would have us believe that the stars and bars represent only one thing, and that is the history of slavery. That is ignorant beyond belief, and it shows how misguided the protesters are when considering southern history and culture. Unfortunately, Democrat politicians are determined to pander to this overblown expression of concern, and so the rich history of the south is denigrated and dismissed as the flag is hidden away in closets and drawers, out of sight from the public eye.

Even if you say it was about money the south’s entire economy was built on the backs of slaves. If the new states that came in the Union were free states that would threaten the south’s entire way of life since they put profits ahead of humanity so that’s why they left. Oh, and of course 99% of the soldiers didn’t own slaves, the rich always send to poor to fight for them, even now.

That’s BS and you know it. The South’s major export was cotton. Only 5% of which was picked by slaves. Most was picked by the poor white share holder trying to feed his family. If you checked the facts, the South was slowly doing away with slavery. So were the slave owning Northern states. Eorope was also doing away with slavery. Slavery was coming to an end anyway and didn’t need a war to end it.
You must only have 5% of your brain cells left. Why would the south (only winners get capitalization) only slowly get rid of slavery ? If they were good Christians they would have known you shouldn’t enslave other of God’s children that were equal to Him in His eyes anyway. The very act of the south having slavery made them a society of sinners, I guess that’s why the Great General Sherman while marching across it and liberating slaves turned it to the fires of hell ! USA USA USA !
The Abolitionists were making their Christian values felt in the North and the South. Europe had already pretty much eliminated slavery and the US was following their example and trying to eliminate it also. The Abolitionists had already succeeded in making slavery a fraction of what it was. The (black) slave traders were sorely disappointed. That’s right, slavery was started by black men. And why do you say “the very act of the South having slavery” when there were several NORTHERN states that also had slaves? And it was fading away. If the Civil war hadn’t come along, slavery would have been eventually eradicated anyway.
Im sure you do,but I think he would be a spineless little boy,who doesn’t have since enough to really understand history.I live near a beautiful Military Park.Its got very nice statues of both North and South monuments in it.i 40 years of visiting this place,ive never once pissed on anything either North ,South or even black monuments.I think its a childish thing to do,its not hurting anyone.They are all over hurting.
In 1858 there were 17 free and 15 slave states. The slave states were no where close to giving up slavery. If they were there wouldn’t have been any argument about the new territories coming in as free states. The slaves that were sold by other Africans were not Christians, the southeners that bought, sold, raped, hung and dehumanized fellow children of God were. How were “Christian values” being used to eradicate slavery If slave states were fighting to have more slave states ?
