Two Recalls Issued By Nestle For Hot Pockets Frozen Food, Meat May Be ‘Unfit for Human Consumption’

Hot Pockets are being recalled and consumers who purchased these sandwiches are eligible for a refund say Nestle, though one may want to rethink their purchases after this discovery.

The USDA said that the company, Rancho Feeding Corporation, which is in conjunction with the Philly Steak and Cheese and Croissant Crust Hot Pocket, is under a larger recall.  The company which processed 8.7 million pounds of meat from diseased and unsound animals is under investigation.  This meat is “unfit for human food”.

Nestle voluntarily recalled two of its Hot Pocket products as part of a larger meat recall.

The food company recalled its “Philly Steak and Cheese” and “Croissant Crust Philly Steak and Cheese” Hot Pockets in specific sizes, according to a company press release Tuesday. Nestle did not return calls for comment.

Regulators said the company processed “diseased and unsound animals” without a full federal inspection, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

As of yet, no illnesses have been reported, but Hot Pockets have been recalled nationwide.

Nestle lists specific batch sizes being recalled. Customers who bought the recalled Hot Pockets can get a refund by contacting Nestle Consumer Services at 800-392-4057.
