“The Klansman is coming, the Klansman is coming”, tweeted the frightened students on the Indiana University campus. The absolute panic that ensued would be humorous if it did not reflect the cowardice of college students had this actually been a lone, whip carrying, white robed KKK member.
Like the old game of telephone, social media spread the misinformation, cellphone to cellphone, stating that a “man walking around campus in a KKK hood carrying a whip and there’s NOTHING you can do to make a student feel safe?”
Another student, a Resident Assistant, warned the dorm-mates to “PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, be careful tonight, always be with someone, if you have no dire reason to be out of the building, I would recommend staying in doors if you are alone.”
