Students Start a Panic After Mistaking Priest for KKK Member “Carrying a Whip”

All across the Indiana University campus, students were on high alert and holed up in their dorms because it was widely spread that lone man, carrying a whip and dressed in a KKK hood, was wandering the campus.  Fear gripped the nearly 30,000 students because of this man and yet the warning did not come from a campus alert, just from paranoid students.

While the KKK has been active in the area in the past, it later became apparent this klansman armed with a whip was actually just a monk of the Dominican order in traditional white robes. The “whip” he was holding may have been his rosary beads.

The resident assistant later released the following statement:

“Behold, your ‘klansmember….’

“This is what happens when there is miscommunication. So what happened tonight goes like this: a person saw white robes and what looked to them like a weapon, got scared (rightfully so), warned people, warned staff, which in turn caused me to warn my residents because I need to look out for my residents, which in turn made it spread.

“Then my residents, terrified, come running to me, saying yeah the report must be true, they saw him and couldn‘t believe there was a klansmember with a whip. And I see this picture. It’s a priest. With a rosary.

We have allowed such an angry conversation to ensue, we have coddled the co-eds and created “safe spaces” for them, that when something that appears as dangerous, they run away.  We are not fostering a generation of bold, thoughtful students, but babies, who get their feelings hurt and are afraid to confront anything that goes against their fragile beliefs.
