Socialized Medicine Takes a Dangerous Detour Toward Non-Sustainability

As for the lauded Canadian healthcare, where Leftists the nation over repeat the often-mimicked sentiment that the system in that northern nation is far superior to ours here in the States, the realities are beginning to seep out into America by way of the massive influx of patients visiting just below their southern borders to see American doctors.

The situation is dire as a new study by a prominent medical society in Canada estimates that the average wait to see a specialist in the Land of the Beaver is just short of five years!

Canadian doctor Joy Hataley, a family practice anesthetist in Kingston, Ontario, told CTV News she was “shocked” after trying to refer one of her patients to a neurologist at Kingston General Hospital and was told in a letter the wait time for new patients is 4.5 years.

The outlet said that while Hataley was used to long wait times — particularly from specialists — she called the 4.5-year delay “insane.”

“Initially I was just a bit stunned,” she told CTV News Toronto on Friday. “I actually thought I misread it.”

“I put my reading glasses on — because I am that age — to check if it was a 1.5,” Hataley added. “I couldn’t fathom it was a 7.5. I walked to a physician’s room nearby me just to verify that I was actually reading 4.5.”

She said such a wait time deems the referral moot: “Who knows what happens in 4.5 years?” Hataley noted to CTV News Toronto. “Will we even remember that we had a consult? Will we still be on the list?”

Hataley posted an image of the letter to Twitter and asked Ontario Health Minister Eric Hoskins and Kingston MPP Sophie Kiwala for an explanation:

“I don’t think this is the norm by any stretch of the imagination,” Hataley added, “but [the fact that] it even occurs at all is shocking.”

She also told the outlet she believes the system has “hit a wall.”

“My main message is: We need timely, consistent and reliable health care in our province and we do not have it,” she told CTV News.

With the current atmosphere in the Swamp being that the United States is the problem and a president under fire for his America First policies, is it any wonder that this news is not making the headlines of the FNIC.  When the collapse of the Socialized medicine industry across the planet actually takes place, then what?

If you thought that a zombie apocalypse was bad, wait until you see half of humanity that was once enjoying “free” healthcare only to find out that they must now actually pay for it out of pocket.  Talk about the end of the world scenario.  Imagine all the heroin addicts who won’t be getting their methadone fix from the clinics!  Nor will there be a ready supply of OxyContin to be doled out so willingly by doctors.

Who will be ready for that sort of apocalypse when the addicted masses begin smashing clinics, doctors’ offices, hospitals, pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies when the medicine is no longer “free?”

The end of Socialized medicine has many facets not yet imagined, but they are close approaching.  As the great Margaret Thatcher once said, “The problem with Socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”  And Socialized medicine is no different.
