I’ve no doubt, Eileen. Most atheists do their best to construct their own private morality, while ignoring the Judeo-Christian foundation of Western civilization. While I do think most people, atheist or not, are horrified at sexual degenerates and pedophiles in particular, in the mind of an atheist God is dead.
If there is no God, then nothing’s “wrong.” It’s tough to make the case for what’s “immoral” if there’s no existential measuring stick, that is, if you’re making up your own rules then anything goes.
This idea is most often expressed by saying anything’s just fine with you as long as “no one gets hurt” or the weaker attitude “I wouldn’t do it, but if you want to, well that’s fine by me,” roughly speaking. Both make “right” and “wrong” completely subjective and relative.
