For Americans who support law enforcement and trust them to safeguard both their liberties and their well-being, it is disheartening to hear officers say that the way to protect the latter is by curtailing the former.
San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia is one such officer, as he revealed in an interview with San Jose Inside. Asked about the topics of the day, Garcia not only expressed support for the controversial Black Lives Matter movement, but also voiced opposition to laws allowing Americans to own firearms for their protection.
As one might be wont to point out, a majority of law enforcement officers believe that Americans should retain the right to bear arms, meaning that Garcia is clearly in the minority on the issue. However, his position as chief of police for the 10th largest city in the country means that his opinion will carry weight among the uninformed and be cited by liberals as support for their anti-gun agenda.

The courts are a major part of the problem and particularly juvenile justice system. The over 18 gang members understand this and use it by becoming the surrogate parent and have them do the crimes very often !!
The reason that people need and want a firearm is basic survival. The police are no protection they arrive after the fact. They want to disarm the people so that they can not product them selves, why is this so, what are the police afraid of. Why do you not spend some time removing the firearms from the crooks. The Government and many of the Police forces are corrupt by disarming the general public then they can continue doing there thing. Do not get me wrong there are some good Police forces around but the bad out way the good. Do not allow the Government part you from your firearms this is the only safe defence that you have. The Government is corrupt and soon or later we will take back our soventry even if it means Civil war.
John I think you should read again with the police chief said. He is not saying that the people shouldn’t have guns you saying that gun control doesn’t work because the criminals can get guns anyway and then the average citizen is without protection. The first line of defense is not the police it is yourself and then hopefully the police are close by to help you and perhaps even save your life which doesn’t happen all the time. If I carried a gun which I’m not allowed to because I live in Canada but if I did carry a gun I would never want to use it. It just makes me feel a little bit more comfortable in this violent world and I just want to get home safely. Once again thank you very much I appreciate it. How about u get out there and stop reacting to crime , u have detectives make them detect , the guns that put officers lives in danger are illegal ones that won’t and can’t be tracked u have to find the supplier, the ppl who are following the law will gladly let u know “I have a gun” it’s the ppl on the street who don’t care u have to pursuer and prosecute stop coming after me and go after them!
