For Americans who support law enforcement and trust them to safeguard both their liberties and their well-being, it is disheartening to hear officers say that the way to protect the latter is by curtailing the former.
San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia is one such officer, as he revealed in an interview with San Jose Inside. Asked about the topics of the day, Garcia not only expressed support for the controversial Black Lives Matter movement, but also voiced opposition to laws allowing Americans to own firearms for their protection.
As one might be wont to point out, a majority of law enforcement officers believe that Americans should retain the right to bear arms, meaning that Garcia is clearly in the minority on the issue. However, his position as chief of police for the 10th largest city in the country means that his opinion will carry weight among the uninformed and be cited by liberals as support for their anti-gun agenda.

Control your own gun, we will control ours
He needs to walk through the streets in civilian clothes, by himself, in the evening, in his own city…
The gun control that will benefit America is reducing the number of criminals who use guns in their illegal activities.
Assault weapon is a made up term concocted by California politicians that decided after years of failing to completely ban handguns, decided they needed an easier target.
An assault rifle by definition is an intermediate caliber (more powerful than a handgun and less powerful than a full size rifle) capable of select fire (switching from semi auto, to burst, or full auto) These rifles have been heavily restricted since 1928. The background check takes over a year sometimes, they have to be secured, and atf can inspect your home at any time. They are also extraordinary expensive. After 1986, sale of any full auto weaponry was banned. The only way to possess one manufactured after that is to be a dealer with a demo letter from atf for law enforcement and military sales. Weapons manufactured prior to that are grandfathered and transferable. I recently shot a transferable select fire mp5sd. The owner payed $55,000 for it.
For home defenses they are among the best weapons you can use. They are shorter and lighter than a shotgun and have far less recoil for follow up shots.
Their terminal performance is far superior to any handgun until you start getting into the upper end 44 magnum territory. They are much easier to place accurate rounds on target under stress than a handgun. They are also far less likely to overpenetrate and injure or kill someone behind your intended target than a handgun even using non expanding fmj ammo. Because of the high velocity, when the bullet strikes a target, it begins to yaw, or turn sideways. All pointed bullets do this because the majority of the weight is in the rear. When that happens with enough velocity, within 200 yards for a full 20″ rifle and about 100 yards for a carbine, the stress on the bullet is too much and it breaks in half at the crimp grove. The nose usually stays in one piece and doesn’t penetrate much beyond that because it has very little mass. The rear which contains the majority of the lead core, now unprotected by the jacket continues to fragment. Any fragments large enough to exit usually have very little energy and pose minimal risk to bystanders. Of course civilians and police are not just limited to fmj ammo. There’s rapidly fragmenting for limited penetration, traditional soft points for expansion and deeper penetration, and copper solids that will expand but penetrate very deep and are barrier blind. Each has a specific application and advantages and disadvantages.
The semi auto ar 15 has never been standard issue to any fighting force on earth. It was originally a civilian prototype before colt bought the designs and submitted it for military trials. Jfk owned one of the originals. The only exception is the mk12 sdmr (squad designated marksman rifle) which is a semi auto only m16a2 with a longer, heavy barrel, a flat top receiver, and a match grade trigger. Coincidentally, the remington model 700 and winchester model 70 were standard issue for snipers for the better half of the 20th century. The winchester model 70 is based off the german mauser k98 action. Any weapon whether civilian or military can usually trace its roots back to the other.
The ar-15 platform is now the most common and most popular rifle platform sold in America the reason for that is for its modular design. It can be configured for different users, it can be configured for big game hunting, target shooting, varmint hunting, or home defense very easily. Carbine length 5.56 or 300 blackout is a very effective home defense weapon and the latter good for deer sized game at typical woods ranges. Swap it out for a 24″ 6.5 grendal upper which takes less than a minute, and you can take whitetail or shoot targets beyond 1,000 yards. Going for elk or moose? Throw on a 450 bushmaster upper and you have 45-70 ballistics. Hopefully this clears the air on the myths and misconceptions propagated by the left wing media and entertainment industry.
He supports the second amendment, but yet limits or no firearms. The legal gun owners or carrying a firearm are not the threat. Talking to a police officer in the field said, he likes the thought he would have the support from a civilian coming to his defense. What this chief calls an assualt rifle that should be banned by civilians, again back to the second amendment a well regulated militia. Now for BLM, I’m in favor of civil protest and non violent means.. but when a police chief supports the the violence, murders on his own blue that’s totally outrageous… He should resign or be removed… Of course by his comments he must be in a secured liberal inviroment.
Why give stupid people the spotlight?
He clearly does NOT support the Second Amendment.
I’m not sure I understand your comment about “assault rifles”, Larry. Do you know what well-regulated means, and what it meant when the 2nd Amendment was written?
Tiffany Porter-Carpenter, you certainly do not believe in the 2nd Amendment. You might think you do. And if that’s the case, you do not understand it.
Sorry if that seems a little blunt, but it’s true.
Not gun control, officer. Idiot control by you and all Police departments!!!
How about F-CK YOU$#%&!@*
