Rand Paul is completely correct, of course, that there is no need for bayonets in local law enforcement. Bayonets are for hand-to-hand combat in battle and the only purpose is to kill.

I’m NOT OK with it…. our National Guard should be called for immediate response to terrorists, and the DEA has their own SWAT-type response teams….. these folks are trained for their specific ‘whatever force necessary’ responses. Our local police are on the ‘defensive’ because so many people have no regard for the laws of our cities, states, and country….. right up to the White House! Local police can ASSIST any specific agency that responds to a crisis, with logistics and communication, as locals have better knowledge of their own areas….. while they let the response teams handle the situations for which they’ve been trained. I don’t mean ‘disarm’ them….. they should be trained for firearms use and crowd control…. just not with bayonets and hand grenades. Political correctness is killing us faster than terrorists.
