Rand Paul is completely correct, of course, that there is no need for bayonets in local law enforcement. Bayonets are for hand-to-hand combat in battle and the only purpose is to kill.

I have had bayonet training in the USMC and believe me the bayonet is for the final phase of hand to hand combat. You always keep one shell in the chamber because of a possible thrust sticking in the bones and you cant pull out, so fire the weapon while pulling the rifle away from body. So what do the police say the bayonets are for?
