“I can’t imagine any use for bayonets in an urban setting,” stated Sen. Rand Paul to Senate Homeland Security Committee at a hearing last year.
“I can’t answer what a local police force would use a bayonet for,” Alan Estevez said.
Paul snapped back “None”
Rand Paul is completely correct, of course, that there is no need for bayonets in local law enforcement. Bayonets are for hand-to-hand combat in battle and the only purpose is to kill.

Maybe a Bayonet will keep the rowdy’s at bay! Better than having to shoot them! But if a policeman has to shoot to protect himself or others, then I say fire away! I still have overall trust in our law enforcement to use common sense! Contrary to some thought, they have a job to do and maybe the decision to apply force is over zealous, but I think, for the most part law enforcement officials do very well!
to kill the criminals and to protect them selves in the line of duty .. criminals now a days taking drugs enhancer its hard for the standard defenses ,, they need to be taken down with the bayonet or bullets .. totally agreed .. stay home in late hrs .. don’t provoke .. don;t contest your right to them .. you have no right when you are in a war zone .. be OBEDIENT .. BE RESPECTFUL WITH THE LAW ..
Doesn’t make sense to me.
I disagree completely with the apparent militarization of police. I do not, however, think these are US police. I don’t believe the uniforms are right and the web gear is questionable. They are, however, armed with AR’s or M16’s.
might as well have a BULLSEYE on the helmet….
To their unawares they where drafted for hand to man combat .

Rand Paul is correct, but I would hope that he and our other elected officials would do more than just also “hope” that the administration “does something about it”!
