Rand Paul is completely correct, of course, that there is no need for bayonets in local law enforcement. Bayonets are for hand-to-hand combat in battle and the only purpose is to kill.

We tax payers paid for all this $#%&!@* for the military and that’s where I want it to stay. If you don’t need it now, put it in moth balls because I guarantee, it will be needed again in the future. The country’s Police Departments need bayonets like they need BB Guns, so that tells me they just took them because they could? Or, they were forced to take them if they wanted the other stuff. We’ve got to get a handle on this $#%&!@* folks. They work for us, we support them. We are the ones who have to pay to support all this stuff. They may get it for free, but I guarantee we have to pay to support it. Those MRAP vehicles cost allot of money just to operate, and if it breaks down, who’s going to fix it? Get with your local Police Chief, Sheriff, City Council, Mayors and tell them not only how you feel about this, but what you expect them to do about it. And if they don’t, let them know you will be pushing for their replacement.
