Rand Paul is completely correct, of course, that there is no need for bayonets in local law enforcement. Bayonets are for hand-to-hand combat in battle and the only purpose is to kill.

When you fit their definition of the enemy, then you will understand what they plan to do with the bayonet. It is used primarily when the position is overrun or when they run out of bullets and grenades.

What the good Senator Paul doesn’t know is that bayonets are good for spreading butter or jam, and stirring in the cream and sugar of your Dunkin Donuts and coffee! Those are about the only things that a cop would use a bayonet for!
