Then there was the alleged bombshell that the Pope went a step further when he discussed the “failure” of Jesus’ life and the “failure of the cross.”

We preach Jesus Christ, not Religion. True Christianity is not a religion, it is restoring relationship with holy God. In the garden of Eden, Adam & Eve lost their glory & fellowship with God due to disbelief & disobedience. This causes sin, curse, pain, sorrow, sickness, evil & death enter the world. Jesus Christ, the second person of Trinity came from heaven to restore everything what Adam & Eve lost in the garden of Eden. Jesus Christ, Son of God paid penalty of our sins on our behalf to rescue us from the punishment of sins. Whoever accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord & Savior will be saved from hell & restore heaven to them.
I think media took the pope’s statement out of context. Then, did what they do best, create narrative. To the world, Jesus was a failure, dying that way on the cross. But, on God, the Father’s purpose, Jesus took our humanity, and paid the price for our sins, because we could not do it for ourselves. If the pope said Christ was a failure, he was speaking in the eyes as the World sees Christ. But, not in the eyes of Christians.
