Obama Seeks To Bury Emails Between Him and Hillary

Officials going through Clinton’s private server have found several commuinications between her and the president on topics ranging from Benghazi to Libya. The White House claims that the reasoning for blocking the release of these emails isn’t because of their content, but because of the principle that the president’s emails should be kept confidential. Too bad the government doesn’t show American citizens the same courtesy.

Because more and more emails have been regularly released, White House officials are concerned about the sensitive nature of some of the communiques between Obama and Clinton.

“It is a principle that previous White Houses have vigorously defended as it goes to the core of the president’s ability to receive unvarnished advice and counsel during his time in office and is central to the independent functioning of the Executive Branch,” an official told The Times.

In all, the White House is attempting to block the release of a small number of emails — not because of their content, but due to the principle that a president’s communications should be kept confidential.

The State Department apparently forwarded the emails to the White House upon their discovery, at which time administration officials decided not to release them.

White House officials say that there is a long history of presidential records being kept confidential while that president is in office. Does that mean once President Obama is out of office that we’ll see the remnants of even more scandals? While privacy should be afforded to American presidents, it still makes it look like they’re hiding something, especially when Hillary Clinton is at the other side of those emails.
