Now that the election is over, Democrats are finally admitting truths they didn't dare say during the campaign. This week, during Barack Obama's first public appearance since leaving the White House, the former president admitted that not all of Donald Trump's supporters are racist. He's also attempting to assemble an “army” of community organizers that will make sure an election like 2016 never happens again.
This admission comes after years of character attacks against Trump and his supporters. This idea, that Trump's immigration policies and supporters were motivated by racism, was perpetuated by the mainstream media.
At the end of the day, however, the plan backfired. Trump would go on to increase minority turnout compared to Mitt Romney and expand the GOP's lead among whites by considerable margins.
Maybe that's why some Democrats have given up on the tactic and are admitting that they were peddling falsehoods all along.
