Did you know that there is a “1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act?” Probably not, but then when one considers the volume of legislation created just at the federal level — legislation that remains in force, the normal reaction would be one of astonishment, of being utterly overwhelmed, of one’s eyes just glazing over. No wonder congressmen and senators have no idea what they’re voting on much of the time.
Anyway, apparently we have a crisis of excess horses and burrows running wild in western states. Enter the Bureau of Land Management and a dispute they have with the Humane Society of the United States.
Here’s the crisis in a nutshell for your consideration.

It was a recommendation from an advisory board to euthanize the animals. As Jean mentioned, the BLM is not acting on that recommendation.

Lie. It is not yet a fact. Please FACT CHECK before posting. http://www.snopes.com/blm-euthanize-44000-horses/
BTW it is against federal law to use taxpayer money to euthanize animals. It was a proposal that was nixed due to law. Here is an idea…adopt one http://www.blm.gov.
This is not Obama, its the National Park Service. And due to a large petition, they will not be doing this.
There is a petition on Change.org. Sign it!
Lie. It is not yet a fact. The click bait title is annoying. If it bothers you, take action, don’t just pass around half baked stories for views. You are adding to the problem. Please FACT CHECK before posting. http://www.snopes.com/blm-euthanize-44000-horses/
I always wondered WHY the F government is “curbing””containing” and such b******t on wild animals! Wtf???
Open season hunting. I’d eat horse.
Yes this sucks but there are many other things you have to look at. First horses are not native and don’t have many predators to keep the population under control. Also when populations get out of hand there isn’t enough food to sustain. Which would leave the animals to starvation which is a much more horrible way to die. We have seen it before. The elk population got to big in a certain area and the state was going out and feeding these animals to try to stop starvation and still the animals suffered. Not to mention the damage to the ecosystem it can cause to the native inhabitants. I doubt this decision was made lightly. So unless you can think of a better solution instead of just talking about how terrible it is. Get up and adopt some of them it is an option.
Please inform yourself before jumping on the ” this is awful” band wagon. 1. These horses have over grazed the areas they were gathered from, they have destroyed the water ways and they are malnourished, disease and parasite ridden. Mismanagement caused this. They cannot be allowed to overbreed unchecked. Move them somewhere else? Where? They will only over burden that eco system also. You can blame this on overzealous do gooders. There are checks and balances in nature and where people start messing with that things like this happen, ultimately these horses need to be put down so that healthier wild horse herds can be maintained.
