The Missouri chapter of the Oath Keepers will march through Ferguson with fifty black protesters carrying AR-15 rifles.
The Oath Keepers decided to hold the event after St. Louis County officials demanded that members could not open carry long barrel rifles within the city – which seems to have been a violation of Missouri’s open carry law.
In a video on the following page, police chief Jon Belmar warns members of the group that open carrying long barrel rifles is a violation of the law.

@[100000503725531:2048:Jeff Geyman], as some background to my comments,many if not most of the people in my news feed who have posted bravo shots of militia throughout this past year have been the very same people who vehemently deny there is any racism in our society at all, have posted racists $#%&!@*umptions about people on food stamps,for example, and their beliefs that Trayvon Martin deserved what he got and so did Michael Brown. Also, remember that just a month ago these same Oath Keepers avowed that they stood in solidarity with racists cops like Darren Wilson. So forgive me if I posess some skepticism and notice how it looks like they want it both ways. They seem to want to salvage their image while dismissing any of the issues that created the Ferguson marches to begin with and think that this lets them off the hook for past racism. It will take more than this type of kumbaya moment to dispel the history and the history of many of their followers. There is a racist system in this country. Is this an acknowledgement by the OathKeepers that they have held a priviledge in the past? What do you think? Do you think the black armed protesters could just show up without the Oath Keepers there and get the same kind of reception? Honestly? And if you think not, which I imagine hopefully you guys do because you are smart people….then say so, for once, dangit. Actually sputter from your mouths that the system as it stands in the U.S. is an unfair racist system and acknowledge that the black community has had a valid point. Did you ever thinki of that? Playing Army is not this acknowledgement, and some will reasonably decide that it looks like a media ego-grab where supporters of often-white-supremacist open carry movement (I say often, not always, because, you have to admit….we have enough video do$#%&!@*entation of that) get to pat themselves on the backs, say “woo-hoo look at us ain’t we nice”, go back to their homes and act like the broken racist situation facing blacks in the USA doesn’t exist.
And on another point, nobody is going to be a lot safer if every group with a political point in this country goes around carrying guns on patrol. That is nuts. Might as well live in a war zone. Thanks a lot for nothing.
