UPDATE: We updated this article to address concerns after a reader cited research and recommendations by the fact-checking organization Climate Feedback.
Climate Feedback presented their analysis of our source article, including academic publications by several of its contributors. They concluded the article contained misleading and unsupported details:
Key Take Away
Temperature measurements made with different instruments and methods over time must necessarily be adjusted to ensure high-quality records of temperature that reliably represent changes. The adjustments needed for land stations in the United States often increase the apparent long-term warming, but overall, adjustments actually reduce the global warming trend.
What does an organization do when the real numbers don’t support the agenda they are pushing?
Sometimes they fudge the numbers. Cherry pick what helps prop up the lie and ignore the real facts.
This happens so often that The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has been doing just that in order to support their biggest science scandal: global warming. Selling their brand of science, their “truth” about global warming brings in extra funding, yet their data is off by 50%.
For the past 18 years, satellites have shown no global warming, where as the “the land based data sets like the ones maintained by NOAA for the US Historical Climate Network (USHCN) continue to show a warming trend.” How can this be?
One explanation, by meteorologist Anthony Watts, shows NOAA using readings from areas that experience Urban Heat Island effect, that is instruments surrounded by buildings, roads or airports nearby which raises the temperatures due to local “environment” and not climate or weather.

What a shocker – NOT !!
I believe NOTHING THE GOVERNMENT SAYS
Obama they is not no global warming
LOL
We always knew it was about the money!! Isn’t always how much they can fleece the American people..?!
The world is gonna change weather we live here or not,
IMPEACH OBAMA
I listen to some college students who are children to a teacher talk. They were trying to explain global warming. extreme temp changes. ? They also said the great plains are turning into deserts. I was going to ask what desert and when did it happen? …I said nothing it was not worth the hassle.
Nick Noelte: Thanks for the detailed response; most modern liberals only provide opinion to back up their opinion. You at least cherry-picked sources to back up your opinion. I’ve skimmed the articles, and noted all are left-wing except the USDA, which is agenda driven. This is not to say that they shouldn’t be considered unreliable, but it would be reasonable to consider their socio-political leaning, unless you’re a modern liberal who chooses not to question sources. I’d like to think the FEE article took a slightly right-of-middle position to counter the “settle science” of climate fanatics and political agendists. As you are likely aware, there’s even political effort developing to silence climate dissent and even punish it. I’ve even heard argument about the bad science of the tobacco industry and government while they ignore the irony that they’re taking the reverse position by saying climate apocalypse is coming based on government funded and motivated science to serve an agenda. Your mind is settled on the government funded, corporate-owned media decided science. You and many others like yourself don’t question that something seems amiss when sources of that science are petitioning their benefactors to silence opposition. My master’s work was in Information Management. My military career was in data processing and administration. I did seven years with USFS in the field performing data collection; this is where I met my wife. The USFS sent my for her masters and PhD, but she stopped at the masters. My wife and I left the USFS because everything was political. Everything had an agenda. Everything was based on funding. The Pentagon, Obama, and his party have declared war on climate. Really?! Sit back and watch the climate-industrial complex develop. What better than a bloodless war when taxpayers are tired of the real thing? But also watch the military-industrial complex evolve and broaden its mission. Climate change is called weather, and the weather changes. Historically, we can see that when political winds change, so does social climate, and I won’t be surprised if the “anthro” in anthropogenic climate change (or climate warming of climate cooling or whatever) is politics and the politics of money. My geology – earth science studies were done in between 1969 and 1974, when “Silent Spring” was all the rage and required reading. Although my major was geology, I had changed it from geography, so I had many more courses than the minimum requirement for my degree, i.e., climatology, paleo-climatology, oceanography, glaciology, and a few more. The politics of climate didn’t start this century, and the predictive modeling of the 1970s is basically not much different from what it is today, except a little more complex, which means a little more prone to error. It’s predictions were incorrect — Florida, the Mississippi Delta, Manhattan, and much of Asian and other parts of the world are still above water — but we are all to believe the scenario is just delayed by a few decades. I doubt you’re a fan of large banks and corporations, yet you’ve swallowed hook, line, and sinker their message and think big brother government has the answers. The FEE article doesn’t pretend to have the answer — though you seem to think that’s the author’s intent — but what it suggested was that we consider both sides of the argument before charging onto the darkness. I’ve lived through the Great Floods and the Global Glaciations since 1970, and it wasn’t so bad as predicted. I lived through Vietnam and the Cold War that diverted our attention from issues world government have returned to. Consider just from the late 1800s to present and how Progressive political elites used crises to strength government and weaken individual rights worldwide by cycling through the unifying, diversionary environment of conflict and war, the satiating, almost soporific condition of peace and prosperity, the divisiveness of moral, social, and civil unrest, and the spiritual divisiveness of religion, i.e., worshipers of Gaia versus followers of Judaism and Christianity. And now we have ISIS, US’s Frankenstein creation. Who is behind all of this? Who benefits? Confuse and alarm. Fear and uncertainty. Destroy. Reconstruct, resurrect, and create. Prosper, admire our handiwork, rest, and get ready for the next cycle. Or something like that. Analogy: Historically, there were numerous messianic prophets, yet followers of Jesus established a religion and church, anointing Jesus as the one and the others as false. We’re doing something similar in that many of US have declared Global Warming (now Climate Change) the new religion of Gaia and are in the process of selecting that religions true prophets and ignoring or discarding the false. World government, through the UN, is the Messiah. You seem intelligent and thoughtful, why play follow the leader? Presently, you’re a climate change convert damning infidels. It’s just that I prefer reasonable agnosticism and healthy skepticism to the zealot’s embrace.
