Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.
MOVE TO PAGE 2:.

Where were Nancy Pelosi, two California Governor’s, California Legislature, and the rest of Congress while this was happening over 7 to 10 years. We’re they doing a $#%&!@*in rain dance?????

Why don’t they use HAARP to create rain? They use it for everything else.
So instead of getting rid of snow take it to the west coast
A lot of the problem seems to stem from poor resource management and planning. Aside from liquid water bottling and export for companies like Neastly, there is also the issues of water reliant production goods and residual water in exported goods. Basically, for every gallon of water shipped out of California, whether as liquid or in residual form, such as in produce, is 1 gallon of water that California doesn’t have any more. While a gallon doesn’t seem like much, consider that in California, Nestle extracted 200 million gallons of water in 2009, from Millard Canyon, alone…one can easily $#%&!@*ume that demand has increased since then. While some of that water was used for domestic consumption in California, some was exported…the equivalent of draining the Stone Canyon (Las Angeles) reservoir every year. And Nestle does this every year and has done so for about 10 years…equalling an estimated 2.5 BILLION gallons of water.
California is on the Oceans Coast can they not filter and purify ocean water and pump it into California.
Its govt interference. Drained their reservoirs to save a small fish species, fixed low prices especially for agri biz, etc. Let the market set the price of water = problem solved
