Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”

Reservoirs provide only a portion of the water used in California and are designed to store only a few years’ supply. But the online headline generated great interest. Famiglietti said it gave some the false impression that California is at risk of exhausting its water supplies.
The satellite data he cited, which measure a wide variety of water resources, show “we are way worse off this year than last year,” he said. “But we’re not going to run out of water in 2016,” because decades worth of groundwater remain.”

I know California gets a LOT of water from Utah so …….. why are we diverting 50,000,000 gallons a day to the NSA building to cool their super computers? Cause ya know, know what posts people are sending each other on FB is way more important than the food that come from California, right?
Places like Arkansas & Minnesota have plenty of water, we allways knew that Cali was desert, most especially southern Cali. They dammed up the Colorado and diverted the water to them and Arizona for goodness sake. And then when the Colorado starts going dry we scream and wonder why? But then who wants to live in flyover land?
