Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

Saw this Sa$#%&!@*ay
Pipe line water from the Mississippi river, and use the water to create energy on the way out west.the government engineers are to stupid to figure it out
Pipelines flowing with pure clean water from BC on the way with love from your Canadian friends. ….
This photo is inaccurate. The water level is a result of closing the damn for maintenance. I was there!
Lol well you guys will die of dehydration
California deserves this.
Cat, what’s your take why cali is going dry?
as usual it’s easier to make stuff up out of a right wing agenda. California has the world’s most sophisticated aqueduct system. Jerry Brown has mandated drought restrictions. A huge voter approved ballot initiative to store more water was just p$#%&!@*ed. Yes we have made our own bed. It’s quite comfortable.
Hey Mike, I’m a trucker, and have loaded bottled water from Nestlé California and delivered to Vancouver BC Canada. …. go figure. …
We’ll send you some tasty fruit and veggies in the winter, and pay you a fair price for the water. Actually solar powered pipelines from the Mississippi would make sense and irrigate our friends in Texas too. It will help with flood control for the Midwest and Ohio valley as well.
