Muslim Council of Britain Speaks On Level of “Christian Cruelty”

Assistant secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, Raqdaad Versi, takes exception to the modern British view of Muslim society and how it is being portrayed (in his opinion) as a stringent and non-pliant culture that is driven largely by “differences in lifestyle” rather than Islamist regionalism, extremism and sharia law.

Examining an opinion by Louise Casey, a British government official working in social welfare departments and, most recently, director general of Troubled Families, in November of 2011.

Versi readily admits that the issues raised by Casey regarding forced marriage, female genital mutilation, honor killings, and other cultural ideals are “challenges we [Muslims] face…crimes that remain hugely under-reported.”  However, the moment that he admits these failings in the Islamist communities, he immediately goes on the attack to proclaim Conservative Christians as misogynist, discriminatory, homophobic and sectarian.

The secretary general’s tirade appears to be an effete attempt at comparing loose biblical interpretations of man’s dominance over women in household and business decisions to the destroying of little girls’ genitals in an attempt to remove any enjoyment of sex.  He’s also taking a leap in logic that the cutting off of a wife’s head is in some way the same as a Conservative man requiring his daughter to cover up her legs with an ankle-length skirt.

Amazingly, even the hijab is a symbol of misogyny far greater than any button-up-to-the-throat blouse that a Conservative family requires in public.

Additionally, he makes a blanket statement of discrimination in regards to Conservatives, but fails to mention any specific examples of what form that discrimination takes.  Is he speaking about them not allowing say…Blacks into the church?  Because, the last time I checked, Blacks make up a huge block of Christians in the UK.

As for homophobia, it takes a colossal amount of gall to equate a Christian’s view of homosexuality to the Chechynian’s mass murders of gay men by shoving them off rooftops (killing nearly 100 in a single day!).  There is a good reason why gays in this country and abroad are beginning to move Right in their political viewpoint in regards to Islam.

Sectarianism for Leftists is merely another way of saying that they don’t like Christians separating themselves from “the globalist mentality” of it taking a village to – well, to do just about anything without express permission from the world court of opinion

“Many of her robust recommendations, therefore, are important and timely:  a new programme to help community cohesion including the promotion of English language and measures to tackle exclusion, inequality and segregation in schooling.

However, her focus is primarily on Muslims: she does not provide any solutions for African Caribbean, Roma or Traveller communities, with no acknowledgement of Scotland and Northern Ireland’s history of integration challenges – from which we must learn.

Worryingly, Casey often conflates Muslim with Asian communities, giving the false impression that all regressive cultural practices are based on the Islamic faith despite clear evidence to the contrary.”

One of the biggest problems with Versi’s arguments is that he tends to use a single example (that is out of the ordinary) as being the defining character trait of that issue. He speaks the African Caribbeans, the Scottish, the Irish, and others as if they somehow should be likened to a regressive society guided by a oppressive cultural faith that finds everything in Western community as repulsive, inferior, and immoral.

It is the equivalent of saying that if you were to move to Iran and allowed your daughters and your wife to roam the streets without covering up their faces, you should be allowed to demand that the government of Iran change Islamic law to equal your wishes!  We are not asking to be included in Islamic society.  Islamic society is asking to be included in ours.

Integration, therefore, is NOT a two-way street. It is an immigrant attempting to streamline his/her lifestyle and cultural choices with the newly adopted society.  Immigrants to this country in the early going didn’t come expecting America to drop what it stood for in order to placate the newcomers.  By all accounts, immigration to this country occurs BECAUSE they wish to become Americans.

Demanding that Western civilization bow to the extreme positions of sharia law is contrary to all commonsensical arguments in support of proper and culturally accepted methods of integration.

When we can be Conservative Christians without the danger of being beheaded for our beliefs, then come and talk to me about “tolerance.”
