The Obama administration has directed the military to not allow personnel to say “Christmas”, in spite of the holiday’s status as a federally-recognized holiday.
The reason given by armed forces officials is that not everyone celebrates Christmas and that out of respect for them, military members should refer to Christmas celebrations simply as “holiday”-themed festivities.
This prohibition comes in the context of a wider push for political correctness in society in general and the military in particular, as evidenced by the recent reprimanding of Navy Chaplain Wes Modder for simply discussing religion, as chaplains are wont to do, with military personnel.

As Commander and Cheif, Obama can order that no religious symbols be placed on government property. BUT, a soldier IS NOT government property but a representative of our government. Even down to the rank of private. A soldier would be out of uniform if they work a pin or label on their uniform that had any religious symbol or saying. But to ban a soldier from uttering “Merry Christmas” falls into the area of the 1st Amendment. When a person enters the military, their civil rights and rights defined my the 1st Amendment ARE NOT excluded. Thus, Obama has once again overstepped the Constitution he swore to protect and defend. It’s all about his promise to “transform America” into his screwed up ideology of what a democratic republic should bexpect – of which no other President would agree with.

But, mypost above is an aside. The point is, Obama should not have the power to preven Christian soldiers from expressing their faith. I bet he allows Muslim soldiers to do their thing!
