The Obama administration has directed the military to not allow personnel to say “Christmas”, in spite of the holiday’s status as a federally-recognized holiday.
The reason given by armed forces officials is that not everyone celebrates Christmas and that out of respect for them, military members should refer to Christmas celebrations simply as “holiday”-themed festivities.
This prohibition comes in the context of a wider push for political correctness in society in general and the military in particular, as evidenced by the recent reprimanding of Navy Chaplain Wes Modder for simply discussing religion, as chaplains are wont to do, with military personnel.

Clergy all over this country should be admonishing their parishioners to pray. They should be organizing prayer meetings – speaking out. Do you think they will? I do not – just bland, perfunctory comments that we should pray for country. The Bible tells us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” I have yet to hear that prayer from the pulpit. We are told that ISIS is here and preparing to kill Americans in a manner similar to that of Paris. Let’s not worry about Starbuck’s coffee cups. Our survival is at hand. The threat is not complicated. We have brilliant people in the military and in the FBI. Given the support they are entitled too, I believe they can protect us as long as Christians everywhere pray!
