Assistant chief of police, Anita Najiy, created a bone of contention between the Miami Police Department and the Fraternal Order of Police President, Javier Ortiz, after she refused to hold her hand over her heart for the Pledge of Allegiance during a recent promotional ceremony.
Ortiz became livid in seeing Najiy refuse to honor the Pledge, stating that she failed to exhibit courtesy and etiquette that “must be exercised when wearing a law enforcement uniform.”
“If you’re not pledging allegiance to the United States, my question is what country are you pledging allegiance to?” Ortiz asks. “Anyone who isn’t offended by that is not American, because when you become a U.S. citizen, you pledge allegiance to the US.”
Ortiz also states that Najiy’s disrepect comes from her Muslim belief, but that normal “protections” or exemptions generally given in the name of religious freedom and speech doesn´t apply to those in police uniform because “you’re supposed to be neutral.”

Muslims can crawl up an ally and you can guess the rest
they hired this person, knowing the beliefs. We don’t want our citizens being forced to salute their flag so let it be or be more careful who you hire.
She needs to go.
IF YOU CANT PLEDGE YOURSELF TO THIS COUNTRY THEN GO THE HELL BACK FROM WHERE YOU CAME !
KICK ROCKS AND GO BACK TO EBOLA COUNTRY !
You honestly believe that ANY POTUS is involved in hiring a City Police Chief?
Terrorist
She is a sell out and traitor. $#%&!@* those Muslims
Actually you have it backwards…it is religion that is supposed to stay out of government. If religion DID stay out of government…then no US Citizen would have religious objections in a situation such as this.
And nowhere did it say she did not take her oath. It said that she did not put her hand on her chest for the pledge…those are two extremely different things.
no it is not a law, but a refussal to pledge allegiance – in this case for this particular type of job – makes a statement that she rejects the government that is the author of those laws that this particular job requires her to enforce.
What exactly makes her a disgrace? Her 32 years of service, or her exercising her 1st Amendment rights as a US Citizen?
