Assistant chief of police, Anita Najiy, created a bone of contention between the Miami Police Department and the Fraternal Order of Police President, Javier Ortiz, after she refused to hold her hand over her heart for the Pledge of Allegiance during a recent promotional ceremony.
Ortiz became livid in seeing Najiy refuse to honor the Pledge, stating that she failed to exhibit courtesy and etiquette that “must be exercised when wearing a law enforcement uniform.”
“If you’re not pledging allegiance to the United States, my question is what country are you pledging allegiance to?” Ortiz asks. “Anyone who isn’t offended by that is not American, because when you become a U.S. citizen, you pledge allegiance to the US.”
Ortiz also states that Najiy’s disrepect comes from her Muslim belief, but that normal “protections” or exemptions generally given in the name of religious freedom and speech doesn´t apply to those in police uniform because “you’re supposed to be neutral.”

Supreme court ruled many years ago that a person can’t be forced to say the pledge.
so according to Moss the miami police dept is a military unit and not a police dept,? since when did this happen? i always thought there was a difference between the 2, apparently not according to Moss……………

She has been enforcing the law for 32 years..so chances are she believes in them…..putting your hand on your heart for the pledge is not a law….
The original author was a socialist and did not believe in an almighty God. After congress recognized the changed pledge it still took another 10 years for “under God” to be officially added. But as of this date the official pledge includes “under God” so that is the issue. Not what it was or what it could be or will be but what it is. As the statement is, “under God” without any additional appellations it should be acceptable to even people worshiping sentient cabbages. If you are unwilling to pledge honestly to this country you should not be in civil service. What other oaths has this person forgone or foresworn?
Typical Muslim disrespect for everything not Muslim. She swore to uphold the Cons$#%&!@*ution when swore in as a policeman. Was it a lie as Muslims are allowed to lie to unbelievers in order to gain safety for themselves. I wouldn’t trust her with my safety!
