Assistant chief of police, Anita Najiy, created a bone of contention between the Miami Police Department and the Fraternal Order of Police President, Javier Ortiz, after she refused to hold her hand over her heart for the Pledge of Allegiance during a recent promotional ceremony.
Ortiz became livid in seeing Najiy refuse to honor the Pledge, stating that she failed to exhibit courtesy and etiquette that “must be exercised when wearing a law enforcement uniform.”
“If you’re not pledging allegiance to the United States, my question is what country are you pledging allegiance to?” Ortiz asks. “Anyone who isn’t offended by that is not American, because when you become a U.S. citizen, you pledge allegiance to the US.”
Ortiz also states that Najiy’s disrepect comes from her Muslim belief, but that normal “protections” or exemptions generally given in the name of religious freedom and speech doesn´t apply to those in police uniform because “you’re supposed to be neutral.”

If I were a cop I would not serve under someone unwilling to pledge allegiance to the US flag. I would have to find another law enforcement agency.
He should be fired if he refuses to pledge allegiance to a country he is obligated to support and defend.
Either that muslim honors the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE or gets canned. If in the USA, they honor the USA, PERIOD, or scoot back to her false religions.

Don there is only one true God and that is our lord thy God Jesus .not Allah …if you look and read your bible ..where you get most of your religions is from the bible and the disciples..you thin Jesus was only one ..he was thy father and the father was him ..muslims say he was not that he was just a messager not the father or the son ..because he was born from a womans vigina …if you don’t think i am telling you the truth ask some of them…and you think Don it says to get to the father to see him you have to first see the son Jesus .but when you see him then you have seen the father for as they are one .
You do have a good point Don Johnson but as a law enforcement officer and a firefighter myself I can inform you that it is actually a uniform policy and an ethical requirement of all public safety agencies in America that while representing your agency in uniform or plain clothes you are required to salute the American flag during the national anthem. What she does on her own time is her business but while on duty one can be reprimanded due to unethical behavior. Additionally, muslims do not respect our nation’s laws so why would she become a law enforcement officer if you don’t believe in enforcement of our laws?
