Eight years ago, when Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama faced one another in the 2008 Democratic primary, it became clear very quickly which one the mainstream media supported. The then-junior senator from Illinois quickly rose from relative obscurity to beat the Democratic heiress apparent — largely thanks to a fawning mainstream media who refused to ask a single tough question of Sen. Obama.
Obama proved to be a smooth-talking and unflappable candidate, while Clinton often appeared flustered and downright angry at times. The Clinton campaign threw everything — including the kitchen sink — at Obama, but the press helped cover for him. They weren't interested in Obama's connections with shady characters like Bill Ayers and Reverend Jeremiah Wright.
Ultimately, Obama prevailed and the media has spent the last eight years treating him with kid gloves. In 2016, however, the mainstream media appears to have warmed up — albeit reluctantly — to the former first lady and secretary of state. Unfortunately for Clinton, CNN's Kate Bolduan appears to have forgotten to toe the party line when interviewing senior Donald Trump adviser, Barry Bennett on Friday. To see Bolduan's surprising reaction when Bennett claimed that Clinton should have left the State Department “in cuffs,” continue reading on the next page:
