Julianne Moore: Gun Control “is not an Argument About Our Constitution” Because “a Gun is a Machine”

Julieanne is a member of Everytown for Gun Safety, the 501c3 Michael Bloomberg anti-gun organization that wants drastic controls put on law-abiding citizens in the name of a safer society. Julieanne cannot explain how virtually all of the locations where mass shootings have taken place in the last decade were, in fact, gun-free zones such as schools and theaters. She also cannot explain how making background checks for gun purchases much stricter will prevent criminals from obtaining guns, given that they usually source their weaponry illegally. But it makes lefties feel good knowing that they are “doing something” to stop gun violence!

In an essay published in Lena Dunham’s newsletter Tuesday, the 55-year-old actress encouraged women to join Everytown for Gun Safety.

“An average of 91 people a day are killed by gun violence,” Moore wrote. “That includes children killed by random bullets, mass shootings at workplaces and universities, intimate-partner homicides, and suicides.”

Moore said our current gun safety laws are “weak” and that she believes stricter background checks are the answer.

“Because our weak gun-safety laws allow guns to end up in the hands of dangerous people,” she continued. “Roughly 40 percent of firearms in the United states are acquired without a background check, so criminals can obtain weapons they shouldn’t have.”

During an interview in October, Moore said she realized she “had to do something” when she was forced to explain the Sandy Hook school shooting to her daughter.

“I was like, ‘I’ve had it.’ I said to my husband, ‘I’ve got to do something.’ This is the one thing that I need to say something about. This is my responsibility as a parent.”

“Where guns are concerned, it is not a good-guy-versus-bad-guy argument,” Moore added.

“It should not be a partisan argument. It should not be a pro-gun-versus-anti-gun argument. It is not an argument about our Constitution. The Second Amendment protects the right of a United States citizen to bear arms. But a gun is a machine. And if you choose to bear arms, you have a responsibility to bear them safely.”

One of the hallmarks of the anti-gun lobby is that they lie and make up statistics. The 40 percent figure for gun purchases without a background check is completely false and is from a 20-year-old study of a sample size of about 300 people. That doesn’t matter, it serves the narrative. More than half the people killed each year are suicides who would find another means to kill themselves. How many people prevent a crime or a personal assault or burglary because they have a weapon? This also doesn’t matter, because Julieanne and other gun control elites live in places where crime is low and the potential for violence is minimal. Moore also has said that regulating firearms is the same as regulating driving a car, and we must do it for public safety.
