Caving in to outcries that they represent the South’s racist past, Greg Fenves, the president of the University of Texas in Austin, announced on Thursday that the statue of Jefferson Davis will be removed from the campus’s Main Mall and moved to the school’s Dolph Briscoe Center for American History.
The statue of Woodrow Wilson was moved as well to “maintain symmetry on the mall.”

I can see people being upset about Woodrow, because he was, well, a President… Jefferson Davis on the the other hand did commit treason, was imprisoned, and should have been hung but Johnson was a bit of a confederate sympathizer. I see the statue at the Texas University as making sense, because was the first president and co-founder of Texas A&M in his later life; but that doesn’t make up for his actions of leading a splinter section in a war against America.
