France Shut Downs over 100 Mosques, War-grade Weapons Discovered

Back in January, it was reported that the French government was shutting down some mosques due to weaponry being found in them. The numbers at the at time were surprising.

From Truth and Action Jan. 2016:

The Interior minister said French authorities have conducted 2,235 searches, made 263 arrests and seized 334 weapons, including 34 military-grade weapons, since last month’s attacks on several bars and restaurants, a concert hall and the national stadium in Paris.

Those numbers at that time indicated that 11% of the mosque raids turned up radical Islamists.

From The New American:

Several of these mosques have been raided, revealing a “staggering” number of weapons and ammunition. Sunday, authorities conducted a raid on a mosque in Lagny-sur-Marne, 18 miles east of Paris, and uncovered 334 weapons and a large quantity of 7.62mm Kalashnikov ammunition, along with ISIS propaganda videos.

Police also turned up recordings of chants “glorifying the martyrs of jihad linked to the terrorist organization Jabhat al-Nusra,” the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda. The chants were found among teaching materials for youth in a madrassa, or private religious school for boys, connected to the mosque.

The French are now on course to shut down over 100 mosques in an effort to combat the jihadists inside the country.
