Those on the left, who want to give radical jihadist a second chance by closing Gitmo and releasing the detainees back into the public, are delusional. To believe that somehow the rage and ideology that called these men to fight for al-Quada and now ISIS has somehow magically been eliminated from their very DNA is fool hardy. Yet the left is all about feelings and they refuse to use logic as part of their rational.
Yet deeply held ideology, hate toward America and anything counter to radical Islam is the driving force for most, if not all of the inmates and former detainees. They do not return to a life of pastoral bliss, gardening and tending their flocks, but return to where they can continue their mission of hate.
According to the Associated Press, the raid was a joint operation between Spanish and Moroccan police, arresting three people in the Spanish North African town of Ceuta, plus one in the Moroccan border town of Farkhana – which is adjacent to Melilla, the other North African enclave of Spain.
“One of those detained in Ceuta was the former Guantánamo detainee who was not named by Spanish authorities, but described as ‘a leader who was trained in handling weapons, explosives and in military tactics.’ After being captured in 2002 and held in Guantanamo, he was returned to Spain in 2004, said Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz,” writes the Associated Press.
The group seems like a formidable jihadi cell, given the skills of the former Gitmo prisoner and another suspect who was reportedly “inclined” to blow himself up in a suicide attack, just like his brother did in Syria three years ago.
The men arrested in Spain were charged with seeking bomb materials and guns for terrorist attacks against Spain, as well as attempting to recruit teenagers from Ceuta to join the Islamic State.
This is what former Gitmo detainees return to, a life a plotting murder and not a life of a reformed citizen, yet Obama ignores such evidence and promises, through executive order if he must, to close the facility that houses these men, bent on the destruction of America. In fact, this is not the first Guantánamo detainee that the Spanish police have arrested.
In June 2014, Moroccan national and Afghanistan al-Qaeda veteran Lahcen Ikassrien was arrested in Madrid, eight years after he was released from Gitmo, extradited to Spain, and acquitted of terrorism charges.
Ikassrien switched his allegiance from al-Qaeda to the Islamic State, and is allegedly a top recruiter for ISIS, in the business of ‘building a network of contacts with militants across the Middle East and Europe’.
Obama has put this nation in grave danger as he continues to release and if he gets his way, close Gitmo. Those he has allowed to return to their former ways of life, have in fact returned to their lives of crime, their lives of terrorism.
Obama released 4 prisoners from Guantanamo in November, including Mohammed Zahir, an intelligence chief and arms dealer known to have Stinger missiles and uranium “for a nuclear device” when he was arrested in Afghanistan.
Despite the fact that Zahir was once considered a top Taliban intelligence official and leading Taliban weapons supplier, somehow he had his threat level was reduced dramatically, which led to him and 3 others being flown to Afghanistan and released.
“Detainee was arrested on suspicion of possessing weapons including Stinger missiles and uranium, which detainee’s recovered documents indicate was intended for use in a nuclear device,” read Zahir’s official Guantanamo file, which was leaked by the Wikileaks hacker group.
It seems to defy logic that a man with such a reputation would would have all of the terrorism accusations discarded “considered a low-level operative at best”.
Evidence of recidivism in these Guantánamo detainees means nothing to Obama and the left, they have an agenda and plan on making it happen no matter what the cost.
